| I
started my career in R&D and it’s
thanks to me that the world had its first
range of washable suede leather. Despite
that success (or perhaps because of it !) I
decided that research was not my cup of tea
and, way back in the 70’s, I moved into
industrial relations. |

|
Since
then, I have worked within the chemical,
textile and engineering sectors, developing
personnel policies, running personnel and
training departments and representing
industry sectors at national policy forums.
|
|
I’ve
run apprentice training schools (remember
them ?) and, at one time got very involved
in designing career structures (remember
them as well ?). Of course, I’ve also
negotiated agreements with Trades Unions. |
| I
established a secondment agency which
received support from 30 companies who were
prepared to second staff to assist new and
emerging businesses. |
| For
the past three years, I’ve concentrated on
running my own business consultancy. |
